EnergyWise Certification Option

Your Amvic ICF home qualifies for a guaranteed energy consumption program that will provide you a written guarantee of reduced energy consumption.   This EnergyWise Certification is about instilling confidence that your structure will perform to the highest standards of energy efficiency and provide a healthy environment to live in. Certification is our stamp of approval for the match of the thermal envelope with the mechanical system that will work most effectively with that thermal envelope based on meticulous review and our proprietary computer analysis.

Your AMVIC ICF walls are the biggest part of the energy efficiency solution; however, they need to be matched by the design of your HVAC system and other insulation and energy-related elements of your structure.   An Ultra-Energy-Efficient AMVIC ICF structure is somewhat like a bio-sphere or terrarium. It is wonderfully thermally efficient, but it is mandatory that the complete system be engineered to match the HVAC system with the thermal envelope; and the issues of handling the moisture requirements, assuring air quality and guarding against CO2 buildup must be addressed.   Many HVAC designers, who are not ICF specialty-focused, frequently oversize HVAC units “to be safe”.  Such over sizing of equipment is inefficient economically.  Equipment that runs in short cycles will have a diminished service life.  More importantly, oversized equipment, while it may cool adequately, frequently will cycle off before it has had adequate run time to remove the humidity from the air that is a needed part of the process. 

EnergyWise Structures is a mechanical engineering company that specializes in ultra-energy-efficient construction. They use a proprietary computer program developed with over 15 years of experience in analyzing more than 10,000 structures to incorporate real world performance of advanced technology with respected engineering practice based on ASHRE standards. EnergyWise matches the HVAC system to the ICF thermal envelope with consideration for assuring the air quality is healthy and mold free.

An EnergyWise Certification complements rather than replaces the Title 24 certification required in California.   Ideally, you would obtain the EnergyWise Certification first and then the data from it can be used for completion of Title 24 certification.
