ICF's as a part of environmentally sensitive building are a return to the fundamentals of durable long lasting design. There was a time when we built to last, but 20th century speed and shortcuts took much of that away. It’s hard to believe, but compared to European standards, houses in the U.S. effectively became disposable items. Cheap energy, abundant forests were the culprits. Stick frame wood construction went well with 70 cent a gallon gasoline.
